sew sew

I haven't stopped this week at work. I have two new members of staff , and they are brilliant, really helping me catch up on work that was missed when i had no staff (long story that i won't bore you with). They have worked so hard making resources for our students which has been great and keeping me on my toes. We have been able to do lots of one to one sessions with the students, working on their behaviour and communication skills.

As you know i had a fab fabric delivery, which also made a little (joyful) work for me. Remember I said i had made a skirt the other day, i actually remembered to take a picture of it as i was wearing today.

I had been scrunched up over my sewing machine before the picture - i should have given it a quick iron before the picture, so not at it's best. I do like the top bit shape.

I had three sewing requests this week. Two tops and one dress. I did one top on friday night. Today i worked on the dress. I have actually finished it now. One top to make tomorrow.
As part of my fabric order i got this cross stitch pack (plus overs not yet put on sale)which i am hoping to start this week and maybe relax over during the summer. Out of everyone i have shown, no one likes  it! I do!
All the threads, so similiar in colour, maybe i should just read a book? Especially if i then put it up and everyone says errgh!
Tomorrow i am of to Spitalfields market with my lovely lovely daughter. She is going to be sixteen on wednesday so new clothes are the order of the day. xx

first dress made woo hooo

So it has been a great long weekend. I did a little more to my cross stitch. I really like it, but not sure what to do when done. I went to get a quote from a picture framers for the 'think happy thoughts' that i stitched a while ago. £65! Yes you read right £65! That did not make me think happy thoughts! I am going to try another shop as I think I went into this one looking like a millionaire or stupid! The best bit of having a long weekend was i got to finish my dress. The pictures not great, no make up and my hair could have done with a brush. I was so excited that i couldn't wait.

My first ever home made dress from a pattern.

It was an 'easy' make, and has given me the confidence to try another. I have a few to choose from but they all look sooo hard!

I also put some vintage fabric on Etsy, some of which i like soooo much i may use in my next project. Have a look on the link at the top for just a few. I wouldn't mind making a head band with the left over dress fabric too. I actually have a metre left - any suggestions?

If your back at work tomorrow i hope you enjoy and remember... only four days until the weekend! x

long weekends, and a bit of GB.

How lovely to have a long weekend. Frank got a lovely walk in our local park. It is really lovely, but i got cross with the amount of litter. OOO am i getting old but it really did annoy me. It was great weather and Frank had lots of fun and was very sleepy after - meaning i could relax and get on with the day in peace! I had time to carry on with the cross stitch i have started
I also took some time to look at some blighty stuff on the net (the wedding yesterday did bring out a bit of british pride).
I loved this little hat

But completely fell in love with this necklace. They also had it with the Queen and the Queen Mother on it.

Happy long weekend everyone

It came with everything you needed and i am really happy with the results. My stitching is probably not perfect (well i know it's not!) i will get it framed and it will hang hopefully making think happy thoughts!
super.. now i can actually do something else like some sewing and knitting, or maybe more cross stitch!

pets and crafts

So im trying my hand at cross stitch. I have never done it before but thought i should try as I hope to be selling some packs.
how cute and innocent does little Lettice look? Well don't be decieved because she is very naughtyFrank looks like butter wouldn't melt?

but one of them did this.......

and whose dirty paw prints are all over the pattern i'm following?

It is taking me ages, i think i am very slow as this is after hours and hours of work. i am enjoying it though.

i will be putting on a dearstalker hat and grabbing a pipe to solve the mystery of destroyed items. When i worked out who did it they will be in big trouble.
